Advanced Training Workshop on Ecosystem Monitoring and Management for Developing Countries Successfully Conclude

 

From November 1to 18 2015, the Advanced Training Workshop on Ecosystem Monitoring and Management for Developing Countries (Green Training Workshop) was hold in Beijing and Jiangxi, China.

Green Training was hosted by China Ecosystem Research Network (CERN), Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research (IGSNRR), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and International Ecosystem Management Partnership (IEMP) of UNEP, sponsored by Bureau of International Cooperation, CAS. Prof. Xiubo Yu ,the Secretary of Sciences Committee of CERN, organized this workshop based on Green Training of China Ecological Forum.

20 participants took part in the Green Training Workshop, who are from Thailand, Vietnam, Nepal, India and Pakistan, China, Kenya, Mauritania, Seychelles, Egypt, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe respectively.

The workshop focus on Ecosystem Long-Term Network-based Monitoring, Data Management, Ecosystem Sustainable Management by the approaches lectures, field trips, group discussions and reports etc. Scientists form CERN Synthesize Center and 4 Sub-Centers gave lectures on themes of water, soil, atmosphere, biology. The participants visited Beijing Urban Ecosystem Research Station, Qianyanzhou Research Station, National Zoological Museum of China and Herbarium of Institute of Botany, CAS. The participants also discussed and reported with their own expertise and experiences in the sessions of group discussion and experience sharing.

The feedback is quite positive. The participants stated that they learned a lot from CERN ecological monitoring and management, and that the training workshop was well organized and informative.
