ILTER and LTER France joint conference
ILTER and LTER France (including Zones Ateliers and Critical Zones Observatories) will convene in Nantes from 2-8 October, 2017. The week will be structured as follows: Monday will be a national LTER France (ZA/CZO) meeting. Tuesday will be a joint scientific conference for LTER France (ZA/CZO) and ILTER participants. Wednesday morning will be the public part of the ILTER CC to inform the scientific conference participants about aspects of ILTER which will be of interest to them. Wednesday afternoon, the internal ILTER CC business meeting will start and last until Friday evening. The whole event will be followed by a two-day field trip for all participants.
ILTER Coordinating Committee Meetings
The ILTER Coordinating Committee (CC) the governing body of the ILTER Network, convenes annually. These meetings are hosted by one of the Member Networks and in most cases, they are held in conjunction with a scientific event. The 2017 CC meeting will be held in Nantes, hosted by LTER France, see above, and the 2018 CC meeting will be held in Taiwan, hosted by TERN, the Taiwanesee LTER.
ILTER Regional Group Meetings
The ILTER Regional Groups hold meetings for the purpose of conducting an in-depth exchange more closely related to their specific concerns than this would be possible at the all-ILTER meetings. LTER Europe will hold its annual meeting in conjunction with a scientific conference 28 Nov. to 1 Dec. 2017 in Malaga, Spain, hosted by the University of Granada. Further information will be provided soon.
ILTER Open Science Meetings (OSM)
In 2016, the South African Environmental Observation Network (SAEON) hosted the first ILTER OSM which was a great success. It was held in Skukuza, Krüger National Park. From now on, once every three years, the world-wide Long-Term-Ecosystem-Research community including further interested researchers and stakeholders will gather at the ILTER OSM hosted by one of its members. The next ILTER OSM will be held by LTER Germany, hosted by UFZ in Leipzig in fall 2019.
