ILTER regional network: Europe
An LTER site is designed to monitor and understand ecological changes and their causes. The french network is devoted to biodiversity dynamics as related to land use and climate changes. The focal questions of the French network are 'how do land use/landscape changes drive changes in biodiversity (species composition and distribution) and how do land use and climate interfere in buffering or enhancing each other's effects?'
The network provides a diversity of situations (land use history/ climate) and different aspects of biodiversity (plants and animals).
Financial support for network acivities is provided by the Department of Environment and Sustainable Development (EDD) of CNRS (http://www.cnrs.fr/edd/). Financial support for research is provided through the program « Zones Atelier » (www.cnrs.fr/edd/recherche/infrastructures-za.htm).
