The Conference will be held in the Congress Centre of the Slovak  Academy of Sciences in the town of Stara Lesna.

Venue and accommodation

The meeting and the conference,  as well as the accommodation will be in the Congress Centre Academia at Stara Lesna, close to Poprad, Slovakia.  The hotel and Congress Centre Academia is situated in the wonderful surroundings of the High Tatra National Park (www.tanap.org, www.poprad.sk, www.hotelacademia.sk). The Congress centre Academia is owned by the Slovak Academy of Sciences, properly equipped with all facilities necessary for scientific events. The accommodation here must be booked and guaranteed  by participants themselves.  There is only restricted number of single rooms. If you wish to have double specify "ILTER meeting" and the name of person who will share the room with you.

When all the rooms in the Hotel Academia  will be booked (first come first served bases), the organisers will arrange the accommodation in neighbouring hotels (up to 3 minutes walk to Congress Centre).

The deadline for booking is 31 May 2008, for guarantee please indicate details of your credit card ( number and expiration date). The accommodation, inc. breakfast is to be paid by each participant before departure (all credit cards accepted). The room costs approximately 50 EUR/night but this may vary slightly changed depending on the actual exchange rate).  Accepted currency is the Slovak koruna (in case of paying cash).

Hotel Academy is available for participants from 17th (Sunday) August till 23rd August (Saturday) 2008.

Lunches and dinners must be paid separately on arrival (approx. 30 - 35 EUR/day (lunch and dinner)). This price includes also the costs of welcome banquet, conference dinner and coffee breaks. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are to be paid by participants in cash only (Slovak korunas or EUR only).  Bank machines are available in vicinity. Note please, that all prices are subsidised by the Slovak Academy.

Excursions

Two half-day excursion will be organised (no charge).

• Excursion 1,  Wednesday, 20th August

Depart after lunch from the hotel by bus. Visiting long-term sites situated in natural and semi-natural spruce forests in the High Tatra. Visiting research sites in the area destroyed by windstorm (19 November 2004). Explanation, guidance and scientific commentary by  Dr. Peter Fleischer, Head of the Research Station of the Tatra National Park. Arrival to the hotel by bus before dinner.

• Excursion 2,  Friday, 22th August

Depart after lunch from the hotel by bus. Travel by funicular to the area above tree line of the High Tatra. Explanation and scientific commentary by Dr. Peter Fleischer on "tree lines problems", and walk back to the valley.  Bus back to the hotel and arrival before dinner.
